If somebody is already missing the Easter Bunny, here Mr. Bunny is. :) I hope Everyone had a great Easter weekend with a lot of sunshine!

A nyertes karikatúrája / And the winner is (caricature for a couple)

A Valentin-napi játékom nyerteseinek nyereményét sem tettem még közre, amióta elkészült. Most itt van tehát a kész karikatúra:

I've made this caricature recently for one of my readers. Now she has got this caricature so I can show it for you.

Egy festmény születése / Born of a painting

(Leonardo Da Vinci)
"The mind of the painter should be like a mirror which always takes the colour of the thing that it reflects, and which is filled by as many images as there are things placed before it."
(Leonardo Da Vinci)

As I have mentioned it in my blog a few months ago: I've made an oil painting to my father's 50th birthday. This was actually a portrait of our family.

Ennek a festménynek a megalkotása alatt annyi érzelem és felismerés tört rám, amiket úgy érzem, muszáj szavakban is megörökítenem.
Creating this painting brought a lot of emotions and recognitions for me which I must to write down to memorize.

The story begins with my everlasting love to oil-technic. I love the oil pigments, canvas, palette, and the feeling to create something truly enduring with them (what an interesting that only painting with oil gives me this feeling).

First step is to select inspiring photos, objects but the magic really begins with the first brush stroke on the canvas, then the second one and another one, and another, and so on... until I finally arrive to the development of even the smallest details.  This period needs a lot of attention. I have to observe and imbibe the subject, to survey every single part what I would like to portray on the canvas. To give life for the subject's look is the most important and for this I often feel that I need to have a view into the mind of the person in question.

Ez minden festményemnél így történik. Ennél a képnél viszont egészen különleges érzés volt ez a folyamat, hiszen a saját családom portréját készítettem.
That's the way it goes with all my paintings. In the case of this actual painting, it was a really special feeling to create the portrait of my own family.

Past lives together with present in this picture, e.g. that two little children sitting on my father's lap, are my little brother and me in our childhood, while daddy on the picture is in the same age as he is now in the real life. In addition there are participants on this painting who have passed away (my grandparents, my doggy), and a memory can be found also (wedding photography of my parents).

Szóval összességében ez a festmény Apum 50 évét foglalja össze, a számára fontos eseményekkel és a szeretteivel.
Actually this painting summarizes my dad's 50 years with his loved ones and with the most important events of his life.

At this time I had to paint a portait about my own family and this fact made it so special for me.

When I started to paint the wedding portait of my parents with my miniature brush, I could almost imagine myself standing next to the wedding photographer at his studio, saw my mom straightening her make-up and her hair with those little hat, and standing next to dad happily to be photographed at that beautiful moment. I saw my father being embarrassed by the big fuss that was made and though he is really happy, can't wait to be through the photography :) I was not able to be there at my parents' wedding, how could I (but to tell the truth I was there at my mom's belly at that time), but when I have painted their wedding portrait, I almost felt like I was taking part on their Big Day.

Ezután következett nagyszüleim portréjának a megfestése.
The next step was the portrait of my grandparents. I have mentioned a few month ago, that there is no family photo about my dad's family (about dad with his brothers and his parents). The reason of it is my grandpa's death when my dad was a 3 years old child. Unaccountably only one photo maintains the existence of grandpa (or only this photo was made from him during his lifetime), in which he wears a military uniform. What was even more interesting for me that while I was looking for the perfect ones among the oldest photos I have found a picture about my grandmother wearing wedding gown and sitting on a chair with a happy smile on her face. But my grandfather is nowhere on the picture, he does not stand next to my grandma and what is more there is any other photo about my grandpa with a similar set what could be made on their wedding day as a pair of my grandma's photo. Unfortunately I will never be able to puzzle this myth out because nobody is alive among our relatives who was a guest at my grandparents' wedding.

Így hát egymás mellé tettem a két portrét, és azonos, kicsit szépiás tónust adva mind a kettőnek, próbáltam úgy összedolgozni őket, mintha eredetileg is egymás mellett álltak volna (a szépiás tónussal, és az elhúzásokkal pedig a múltat érzékeltetni).
So I have put those two portraits next to each other, and tried to make one from the two different photos by giving them a similar sepia tone (and I've also tried to bring out the pat with this sepia tone and the blur parts).

Painting grandma's and grandpa's features newer and newer dicoveries took shape before my eyes: e.g. I have found it out that probably I have inherited the shape of my nose from my father's mother, while my grandfather's main features appears on my cousin's face.

It was really interesting for me to make such a close and detailed study of my grandparents' face, eyes, mostly because I had known one of them only a bit, while unfortunately I did not know the other at all. But during painting their portraits, it felt like I could puzzle them out, they told me their secrets. What the strangest was, it felt like they were there by my side while I was creating them on the canvas. It was really stange and mystical, but at the same time it was a really good feeling.

A festményen szereplő alakok közül elérkeztem azokhoz, akik a „közelmúltat” képviselik: a tesóm és a saját gyerekkori portrémhoz.
After that I had come those figures in the painting who represent 'the recent past' and those figures are: my brother and me in our childhood.

At this part I was not surprised that a lot of old, childhood memories came into my mind. It was so much fun to select one among our family-photos which brought hundreds of memories again.

And when I had started to paint our little doggy... well that feeling was a little bit heart-breaking because I would like to hug her again sooo much... I had painted my sweetie for a whole day thanks for her rich fur but it was so good, I had smiled a lot and cried a bit (That's the way it goes when someone grew up with the family's pet and loves her/him so much as a real family member).

Utoljára hagytam a felsorolásban a kép főszereplőjének, Apumnak a portréját, de csak azért, mert itt ő volt a fő, ő érdemelte a legtöbb figyelmet, és egyben talán ennek a kis leírásnak a végszavát is.
Last but not least I arrived to my father's portrait who is the main character on this painting, so he deserved the most of my attention during the painting process and now I think he deserves the cue of this post.

Az ő portréjához alapanyagul szolgáló fényképet a saját esküvőmön készített fotók közül választottam ki, tehát ez a kép a legfrissebb a festményen szereplők közül.
His portrait was based on a photo which was shooted on my wedding, so this was the most up-to-date photo among the others on the painting.

Szerettem volna Aput a jelenben ábrázolni, és ezzel kötni össze tulajdonképpen a múltat a jelennel.
I would like to portray my father in the present and combine past with present by this process.

Szerettem volna az arcán megjeleníteni minden érzést, örömöt, boldogságot, fájdalmat, minden emléket, minden évet.
I'd also like to show every feelings, joy and happiness or sorrow, every memories and the years on his face.

Maybe I do not exaggerate if I say that I had worked on his portrait for the longest time, repainted it several times to make it as perfect as it could be. I hope Iwas able to give back in the painting that love emanated from his eyes in the photo, and to capture that invisible but eternal bond that connects each member of the family (whether they are still alive or not).

This painting is based on 9 different photos, it was painted on a larger sized canvas and for now it is ornamented with a beautiful, fretted frame.

Finally I must explain while the background so rusty is (this was the biggest problem of my parents :)).
So here is my explanation: the only and simple reason for this old-styled background is that in my opinion the painting becomes complete with it. And that's all. :)

Pöttömfotó Blog fejlécterve / Heading of a child photography blog

A végeredményt facebook-on már láthattátok, most jöjjön ide is egy kép a kész fejlécről.
Unfortunately I haven't load up my new works for weeks or months, that's why the next few posts will try to supply these defaults.
First of all there is one of my works for a blog heading from january.
I have got an order for the design of a children photography blog heading. This theme is so lovely to me, so I liked making this project a lot. Here is the final design of Pöttömfotó Blog.
